National Cadet Corps came into existence on 16th April, 1948 and aims at developing the quality of character, courage, comradeship, discipline spirit of adventure and sportsmanship and ideals of selfless service and secular
outlook among the youth and thus make them responsible citizens.
In J&K NCC acitivites were started in 1954 and a full fledged NCC directorate was established in 1960 at Srinagar. The NCC wing in the college came into existence in 1968-69, which has grown over the years into three wings of about 270 cadets.
A girl wing of NCC started opening from the 2002-03 session in the college.
NCC aims at creating a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life including the Armed Force. NCC "C" Certificate holders are exempted from the written test of CDS/Indian Military Academy. The certificate holders are provided aa host of other incentives also. The following wings of NCC operate in the college under the charge of qualified officers. These officers are members of the teaching faculty.

Every volunteer who joins NCC in the college as a cadet is imparted training consisting of regular parades, training in the handling of light weapons and other activities of related nature. NCC
has a programme of extension activities consisting of tree plantation, literacy drive; vigilence, awareness, civil defence, population education, participation in health and family welfare programmes
and above all our NCC cadets are ever ready to donate blood on all occasions. Many of our NCC cadets have qualified in various examinations related to NCC and thus qualified for entry into armed forces. Our
well-trained cadets are regular participants in the Republic Day Parades and youth exchange programmes and other NCC camps /programmes.
Every enrolled NCC cadet has t undergo two parades of two hours each in a week and is required to attend 40 parades in a year.
All cadets shall have to put in 75% attendance in the parades so as to become eligible for certificate examinations. Enrolled cadets have also to attend one camp.
The uniform issued to the cadets is to be used with great care.
The uniforms are to be returned at the end of the academic session to the officers concerned,
failing which the permission will not be accorded to sit for the university examination. However,
3rd year cadets shall be allowed to keep some of the items with them, notification for which shall be issued by the concerned Associate NCC.
B and C certificate examinations are held annually for cadets in 2nd and 3rd year of NCC training respectively. Misbehavior and misconduct in NCC activities, as adjudged by Associate NCC officers, can debar the cadet
from any further NCC participation. In addition, disciplinary action under rules will be initiated by the college authorities, to the extent of expulsion from the college.
Enrolled acadets are covered by insurance against any mishap during the training.
Enrollment to the first year of training in NCC commences with the start of admission process for B.SC part I classes itself. Enrollment forms obtainable from the converned Associate
NCC officers, should be submitted at the time of deposition of fee. The newly selected cadets will, as a consequence, get an opportunity to attend NC camps organized in the month of July and August.
